Two-Way Source-Channel Coding

چکیده

We propose an adaptive lossy joint source-channel coding (JSCC) scheme for sending correlated sources over two-terminal discrete-memoryless two-way channels (DM-TWCs). The main idea is to couple the independent operations of terminals via mechanism, which can mitigate cross-interference resulting from simultaneous channel transmissions and concurrently exploit sources' correlation reduce end-to-end reconstruction distortions. Our JSCC not only subsumes existing methods communication but also improves their performance. Furthermore, we derive outer bounds our transmission problem establish complete theorems in some special settings. In these cases, a non-adaptive separate (SSCC) achieves optimal performance, thus simplifying design system.

Secure Polar Coding for the Two-Way Wiretap Channel

This paper studies polar coding for secure communications over the general two-way wiretap channel, where two legitimate users communicate with each other simultaneously while a passive eavesdropper overhears a combination of their exchanged signals. The legitimate users wish to design a coding scheme such that the interference between their codewords can be leveraged to jam the eavesdropper. T...

Expansion Coding for Channel and Source Coding

A general method of coding over expansion is proposed, which allows one to reduce the highly non-trivial problems of coding over analog channels and compressing analog sources to a set of much simpler subproblems, coding over discrete channels and compressing discrete sources. More specifically, the focus of this paper is on the additive exponential noise (AEN) channel, and lossy compression of...

Source-Channel Coding Strategies: Tandem Coding vs. Channel-Optimized Quantization

Two common source-channel coding strategies, tandem coding and channel-optimized quantization, are compared on the basis of distortion vs. complexity by analyzing specific representatives of each when transmitting analog data samples across a binary symmetric channel. Transform coding is used in each strategy, and Reed-Solomon codes are added to form the tandem code. For each strategy, formulas...

Systematic Lossy Source/Channel Coding

The fundamental limits of “systematic” communication are analyzed. In systematic transmission, the decoder has access to a noisy version of the uncoded raw data (analog or digital). The coded version of the data is used to reduce the average reproduced distortion D below that provided by the uncoded systematic link and/or increase the rate of information transmission. Unlike the case of arbitra...

Source-Channel Coding in Networks

The aim of source coding is to represent information as accurately as possible using as few bits as possible and in order to do so redundancy from the source needs to be removed. The aim of channel coding is in some sense the contrary, namely to introduce redundancy that can be exploited to protect the information when being transmitted over a nonideal channel. Combining these two techniques le...
